Our passion is sourcing and serving the best food, drink & gifts possible - from freshly prepared foods made in house, to thoughtfully curated wine, beer, and spirits, to specialty gifts & groceries from the island and beyond.
OUR NAME
The Rosewater name was inspired by the fictional lead character, Eliot Rosewater, from Kurt Vonnegut’s classic “God Bless You Mr. Rosewater” who chose to forgo his family fortune in favor of spreading kindness in his small hometown.

It's a family affair
Rosewater is a family affair, led by Julia Tarka and her husband Zach; with a little help from Julia’s father Christopher and his wife Nancy – along with the occasional assist from one of Julia’s five talented siblings and their partners.

Opening Wine & Spirits
In 2017 we jumped at the chance to open a Wine & Spirits shop on Main Street, and were delighted that Julia’s puppy Tuna was available to help staff the joint.

Community Matters
As year-round residents running a year-round establishment, we care about the community we call home. That’s why we’ve hosted all sorts of events in space, including the regular student led Climate Cafes.

Adding A Little Rosebud
When Julia & Zach started their family, the business added a newborn of its own – Rosebud – a delightful children’s store filled with clothes, toys, and books that was voted Best New Store on MV the year it opened.
